Prisma Electronics at the ET Forum with speaker Mr. Christos Giordamlis

Mr Christos Giordamlis, the Managing Director of Prisma Electronics, participated as a speaker at the ET Forum titled 'Greece of Tomorrow, Today', organised by the newspaper Eleftheros Typos in Alexandroupolis.
His address formed part of the forum's session entitled “Economy, Innovation and the Digital Ecosystem as Drivers of Sustainable Development and Job Creation in the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace”. There, he discussed the vital role of innovation in promoting regional growth, focusing specifically on the technological landscape of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
Mr Giordamlis emphasised the importance of linking entrepreneurship, research and technological advancement, and presented examples from Prisma Electronics' own experience. The company operates as an innovation hub with an international presence, making a significant contribution to the local economy. He made special reference to the company's flagship MICE-1 (CubeSat) nanosatellite project, which was designed and developed by Prisma Electronics. Scheduled for launch on 1 October 2025, MICE-1 is part of a programme funded and overseen by the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Greek Ministry of Digital Governance.
The satellite's mission is to monitor maritime navigation in the Aegean Sea by automatically receiving AIS (Automatic Identification System) signals and collecting and analysing data on the operation of marine vessels. It will also enhance the functionality of Prisma Electronics' ship-installed systems (Laros), offering communication and data exchange capabilities even under critical conditions.
As President of the Association of Industries and Crafts of Evros, Mr Giordamlis highlighted the key challenges facing local businesses. These include a lack of skilled human resources, a need for modern infrastructure, high energy costs and limited access to financing. He emphasised the importance of formulating targeted policies to support small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as developing robust regional industrial ecosystems.
Prisma Electronics' participation in the Forum emphasised the strategic importance of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace as a hub for deploying advanced technologies and promoting a sustainable, innovative and outward-looking model of regional development.
The Forum featured the participation of several notable figures, including the Minister of Environment and Energy, Stavros Papastavrou; the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance, Nikos Papathanasis; the Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Insurance, Kostas Karagounis; the Regional Governor of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Christodoulos Topsidis; the Metropolitan of Alexandroupolis, His Eminence Anthimos; and the Mayor of Alexandroupolis, Giannis Zampoukis.
