The project will conduct research in the domain of materials and metamaterials, focusing on the creation of innovative electromagnetic radiation metamaterials absorbers using printing technologies. PROPILEA is expected to result in the development of new commercial products that offer EM radiation protection, characterized by their lightweight design, cost-effectiveness, ease of use, and distinctive technical features, including operation in a broad frequency range. These products will serve as optimal solutions for protecting equipment and personnel in environments with significant electromagnetic radiation, such as the surfaces and various areas of ships, where high-power transmitters are in constant operation.
The objective of this project is to develop a smart, flexible, and lightweight structure that operates effectively across a wide range of telecommunication frequencies used in radar and other communication applications. Although absorbent metamaterials have been under development for over a decade, this project sets itself apart by introducing metamaterials that are not only broadband across the frequency range, but also flexible and extremely thin, enabling their adaptation into protective clothing.
