Prisma Electronics and Technopolis Cluster in CERN
The Technopolis Cluster of Thessaloniki, along with 15 dynamic enterprises from the region of Central Macedonia of Greece, visited the facilities of the European Research Centre CERN, in the borders of Switzerland and France on the 23th and 24th of January 2017, to engage in collaboration opportunities.
CERN, providing answers for 63 years in some of the most fundamental questions of our existence, is a wide activity Research Centre in particle physics with collaborations all over the world and achievements in all scientific fields.
The Greek delegation, which was escorted by Mr. Apostolos Tzitzikostas, Head of the Region of Central Macedonia, aimed to investigate technological collaborations between the Greek enterprises and the organization. The visit was followed by a sign of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between CERN and the Region of Central Macedonia.
Prisma Electronics from Alexandroupolis participated in the delegation, as a Greek company which cooperates with CERN since 2004. The company has been an official supplier of high-tech systems, honored with the Gold Industry Award for outstanding manufacturing of electronic circuits in the CMS Experiment, while cooperating at the same time with CERN in large scale European Research Projects. During the visit, the participants had the opportunity to be informed about the procurement procedures in CERN projects, as well as be guided to the experiments, 100 meters underground.
