ESA-Funded Space Program

Prisma Electronics Spearheads ESA-Funded Space Program

Prisma Electronics is set to play a pivotal role in a groundbreaking European Space Agency (ESA)-funded program. This ambitious initiative aims to design and produce a Power Processing Unit (PPU) for space satellite systems, leveraging the collective expertise and resources of leading Greek and Italian companies and research centers.

As a key subcontractor collaborating with the Italian lead partner Alta, Prisma Electronics will oversee the design and delivery of prototypes. This collaboration includes two other prominent Greek companies, Inasco and Sitael Hellas, in a program expected to span 33 months with an 11 million euro budget. Prisma Electronics and its Greek counterparts are poised to receive a 4 million euro share in recognition of their substantial contribution to the project's design and production phases.

A Milestone for Greek Aerospace Industry

Prisma Electronics' crucial role in coordinating and implementing the project underscores its responsibility for completing and delivering the prototypes. These will then be incorporated into microsatellites by their Italian partners. To support this endeavor, Prisma Electronics has developed a specialized Clean Room ISO-7 and electronics assembly space at its Alexandroupolis premises, designed to simulate the conditions of space and facilitate rigorous testing environments.

Mr. Thanasis Potsis, President of the Greek Union of Industries of Space Technology and Applications (EVIDITE), hailed this project as a monumental success for Greece, the result of over two years of dedicated effort. "For the first time in Greece, we have established a standardized environment capable of producing certified electronic systems for space applications," Potsis remarked, underscoring the significance of this achievement. The initiative's first application will focus on the motor control systems' PPUs and microsatellite electric propulsion systems (MEPSs).

This collaboration not only marks a significant milestone for Prisma Electronics but also represents a strategic opening for Greek aerospace companies into the global space market. It promises long-term benefits for the Greek space and technology sector, including access to international aerospace platforms and valuable knowledge and technology transfer.

Prisma Electronics is proud to contribute to this landmark project, reaffirming its commitment to innovation and excellence in the global aerospace industry.
